Nigeria Police offer N5 million for information on abducted ex-Minister

In response to the former minister Iyabo Anisulowo, who was kidnapped last week, a N5 Million reward on Monday has been offered by the Ogun State Police Command to anyone who could provide information that may lead to her rescue.

The 65-year-old Iyabo Anisulowo who was abducted on Wednesday on her way back from her farm in Sawonjo in Yewa South LGA of the state has today spent 6 days with the kidnappers. It would also be recalled that she served with Gen. Sani Abacha during the military regime.


A report by Premium Times states that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N200 Million before she can be released. While the Police in a statement today have offered a N5 Million reward to anyone who could provide information that could lead to her rescue.
Part of the statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, reads:


 “The Ogun State Police Command has offered N5m (Five million naira only) reward to any informant(s) who has useful information for the police on the kidnapping of the former senator and minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, who was kidnapped recently at Sawonjo/Iganokoto area of Ogun State,”


“The Commissioner of Police Ogun State therefore appeals to the general public to support the police and give useful information that can assist in the rescue operation of the kidnapped victim,” the statement said.

He also listed out some numbers which the command released to the general public to reach the police in case of any information. Also stating that such individual who is able to provide any useful information will be provided with the required maximum security and all information will no doubt be confidential. Some of those who were present at the meeting includes the Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala, Abeokuta, S. Danwalis, and the Director of Department of State Security Ogun State, Kabir Sanni.
